Weekly Highlights #43
The content we consume can consume us, if we are not mindful enough. In this period of information overload and analysis paralysis, The ‘Weekly Highlights’ collects the 3, most valuable pieces of content I have come across during the week, and packages them in a single page, with some notes and key highlights, so to foster mindful and intentional consumption of content, which can truly add value to our life.
Intentional content consumption, in an era in which the amount of content we expose ourselves to can consume us, if we are not mindful enough. 🐘
Simplify!
Edit. Edit. Edit. Before making the presentation, work on the content to include and its structure. Define your aim before creating the design.
The C.R.A.P. Framework
Contrast → make sure text is legible by using appropriate contrast (e.g. black background and white elements)
Repetition → being consistent in the design of the presentation. Create graphs directly in the presentation software you are using, and strip down what is not essential
Alignment → as in aligning elements properly (to the center, left, or right in a manner that makes sense in the design)
Proximity → grouping together similar elements of the design
5 Hindrances to Self-Mastery
Sensual desire (sight/touch/taste/smell/hearing) = Am I addicted?
Ill will / aversion = Am I feeling a negative emotion?
Dullness / heaviness = Am I unmotivated?
Restlessness = Is my mind jumping from though to thought?
Sceptical doubt = Am I indecisive?
Rain (is the solution)
Recognise which one you're experiencing
Accept that's what you're experiencing
Investigate why you're experiencing it
Non-identify with that experience: 'i am not the body, i am not the mind, i am not my emotion'
